Savings for Home
In most homes, at least 20% of the energy used (and paid for) is simply wasted!
Here are a few really simple tips to help you save energy, save £££s and help prevent climate change too!
Thermostat: Turn it down by just 1°C and you could cut your heating bill by up to 10%, saving around £55 per year!
Hot water: Is your water too hot? Check that your cylinder thermostat is set at 60°C / 140°F.
Windows and doors: Close your curtains at dusk to stop heat escaping, and check doors and windows for draughts
Lights: Always turn off the lights when you leave a room
Standby/Charging: Don’t leave TVs/stereos on standby, and don’t leave items like mobile phones/razors/toothbrushes on charge for longer than needed
Washing/Drying: Make sure the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher are full before use – one full load uses less power than two half loads!
Kettle: Only boil as much water as you need (but don’t forget to cover the heating elements!)
Taps: Fix any leaking taps – a dripping hot water tap wastes energy and enough water in a week to fill half a bath!
Lightbulbs: Use energy saving bulbs – they last up to 10 times longer than normal bulbs and using one can save you around £40 over the bulb’s lifetime
Energy supplier: If you’re not getting a great deal from your current supplier – SWITCH! It’s really easy and can instantly save you £££s. Contact me today to find out how!
